Overview

AI Text Actions is a Chrome extension that allows you to process selected text using OpenAI's API. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how your data is handled.

Key Point

This extension does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our servers. All data remains on your device or is sent directly to OpenAI when you use an action.

Data Collection

The extension stores the following data locally on your device:

• OpenAI API Key: Your API key is stored locally in your browser's secure storage and is never shared with anyone except OpenAI for authentication.
• Custom Actions: The actions you create (name, instruction, model) are stored locally in your browser.
• Usage Logs: Optional activity logs (action name, timestamp, token usage, cost) are stored locally in IndexedDB for your reference. These logs never leave your device.

Data Transmission

When you use an AI action on selected text:

• The selected text is sent directly to OpenAI's API servers for processing.
• Your API key is used for authentication with OpenAI.
• The processed text is returned and displayed in your browser.

Important

We do not have access to your API key, the text you process, or OpenAI's responses. All communication happens directly between your browser and OpenAI.

Third-Party Services

This extension interacts with the following third-party services:

• OpenAI API: For text processing. Your use of OpenAI is subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
• GitHub (raw.githubusercontent.com): To fetch current model pricing information. No personal data is transmitted.

Data Security

Your API key is stored locally in your browser's secure storage.
All API communications use HTTPS encryption.
No data is stored on external servers controlled by us.

Your Rights

You have full control over your data:

• Delete your API key and actions at any time through the extension settings.
• Clear usage logs from the Logs page.
• Uninstall the extension to remove all locally stored data.

Permissions Explained

• storage: To save your API key, actions, and usage logs locally.
• activeTab: To read selected text and replace it with processed text on the current page.
• contextMenus: To add AI actions to the right-click menu.
• Host permissions (api.openai.com): To communicate with OpenAI's API.
• Host permissions (raw.githubusercontent.com): To fetch current AI model pricing data.

Children's Privacy

This extension is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
